There are no dues to be a member of Old Bats & Red Hats, and everyone is welcome to participate in our activities. Our chapter is rather informal regarding dress code, so please dress for comfort.  Please contact the appropriate Red Hat Chapter directly if the event is not run by our Chapter, and dress accordingly. Lots of Red Hat Society (worldwide) events take place all the time. Go to www.redhatsociety.com for information on events held by Red Hat Quarters. If you commit to an activity which has an associated cost, you will be held accountable if payment is made on your behalf (and no replacement can be found in time). Dinner and a Movie Club - held the first Tuesday of each month (6-9 pm approx.)
Book Club - held the second Tuesday of each month (6-8:30 pm)

PBS’ "Nova: The Pluto Files" is scheduled for Tuesday, Mar. 2th is showing on Boston's Channel 2 at 8 pm.  It is repeated on Wed., Mar.3, at 9:00 pm. Nancy Marsden’s husband, great interplanetary Scrabble player and honorary Red Hatter, is going to be on this show sharing his wisdom with we neophytes.

Free.  “Kidder’s ‘Home Town’ takes the reader inside the everyday workings of Northampton, a place that not only seems to personify the typical American hometown, but is also in many ways, strikingly similar to Lexington.”

 

Tues., Mar. 16th, 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm: Adventure Lunch! This is Restaurant Week, so we are going to try a new restaurant in Arlington. Buona Vita Cucina Italiana, 450 Massachusetts Ave., Arlington. I can’t get into their website, but 2-course lunches cost $15.10, and 3-course lunches go for $20.10. I read all the reviews and see that the restaurant is small. Excellent food, but not lots of ambiance. I’m making a reservation for 6 people. Chef-owner Francesco Martini, former executive chef at Mare in the North End, is offering a traditional Italian cuisine. He has worked with well-known chefs in Italy and Spain. (Dinner is $33, which is just too expensive for most of us.)

Come alone or bring a friend!  We play in teams of two - beginner, medium and advanced play tables are available so come for fun or play for blood.  If participating in Pot Luck lunch, please bring a main dish, side dish, salad, or dessert (enough to feed 6-8 people). Fri. - Sun., May 14 – May 16th: Ski House in North Conway sponsored by the Red Hat Day Dreamers. It will be first-come first-serve basis, meaning when we have everything straightened out, whoever pays first gets the best rooms. Remember this is a Ski Lodge so you may have to ruff it a little. When we say ruffing it, we mean gentle ruffing it. Bring your own bed linens, towels and pillows, like camping, only indoors. There are 24 bedrooms with sinks, most of which have Bunk Beds that take twin sheets.  Bathrooms and shower stalls are shared.  All the bedrooms are on second and third Floor. It is not Handicapped accessible. The Bed rate is very cheap  $50.00 a Person for 2 nights. Even if you are only staying one night you still have to pay $50.00 to save your Bed. We will be Sharing Rooms, Bathrooms, Food and Friendship. We will only except 50 Ladies. Our program will go something like this. Friday get there as early as you want Andrea and  I will already be there. Lunch is Sandwiches, Dinner is Pizza and Salad delivered and we share the price of the Pizza. BYOB or if you don't drink bring your own soda or whatever. Friday Night is Pokeno bring a $10.00 Wrapped Gift and a Role of Quarters. Saturday Breakfast is Campers Delight with Omelets made in plastic baggies plus Bacon, Sausages, Bagels, English Muffins, Toast and Juices. Coffee and Tea. Saturday is on your own day to go to the outlets or the Flower Show we will find out what is going on in the area. Saturday Night is Spaghetti and Meatballs, Salad, Garlic Bread and a Birthday Cake for the May Birthdays. Also on Saturday Night we will have Entertainment. We hope we are looking into it now we will all share the cost no more than $5-$10 each. Sunday Morning is the Pajama Party. Buffet Style Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, Sausage, Pancakes, Bagels, English Muffins, Juices, Coffee and Tea. We may add other foods to the Menu depending how many go. No hurry to leave. We clean up our messes, get dressed and go home or more shopping. There is no check out time. As soon as you send me your $50.00 for the two nights I will assign you your room.
